It poured rain today, but I can’t imagine a more beautiful place to be ‘stuck’ than Hotel Elena. Set up laptop in Cafe & FINALLY answered some business & personal emails while the wind howled & the waves crashed. Amazing views out the big windows of the Cafe.
Told Sam I felt like I was in a romance novel…high on the hills in Recco. A very dark morning, but the skies cleared late today & I drove to Camogli to take a look. WOW! So beautiful! That castle at the end of the row is actually an old church. I’ve attached photos of the castle-church and the Camogli promenade. Just as I was leaving it POURED rain again & I got caught…but had a rain jacket. Haven’t been caught in a downpour like that in a long time. It felt good to run like crazy for the car! :)
Just now I’m enjoying dinner at Restaurant Ai Pesci Vivi that my friends, Jim & Valerie Long, recommended, among others! Can’t wait to try the grilled sea bass. Tomorrow’s forecast is mixed, but I’m hopeful for more sun than rain, & plan to drive to Portofino in the morning no matter what.
I’m anxious to start more paintings with water…the Recco promenade proved difficult to reach with my painting gear. Lots of stairs – even after the elevator down from Hotel Elena. So I’m hopeful that Portofino will offer more water views that are easier to access. I’ll find out tomorrow. God bless and good night! Sharon
